THE SCHOOL EFFECTIVENESS FRAMEWORK:

Ontario provides The School Effectiveness Framework that is applied to primary and secondary education from kindergarten to grade 12. It highlights policies focusing on improving learning environments by:

  1. “Promoting inquiry focused on student learning, achievement and well-being that informs goals and effective teaching and learning practices/strategies.”
  2. “Building coherence in and across schools and districts.”
  3. Using meaningful tasks, activities and experiences that are designed to foster thinking and metacognition and build on students’ diverse perspectives, knowledge and experiences.
  4. Making assessment for learning processes that are evident as students undertake authentic and relevant performance tasks.
