About

This section explores the perspectives and positions of key stakeholders in Canadian low-carbon policy. It highlights the stances of major industries, such as oil and gas, and their views on low-carbon initiatives. The analysis also includes activist groups, examining their critiques of industry claims and their contributions as experts in the field. Think tanks and similar research organizations are reviewed to shed light on their findings regarding federal and provincial measures. Additionally, the role of government regulators, including Canada’s Carbon Management Strategy and the House of Commons Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development, is discussed. The positions of federal and select provincial parties on three key topics—carbon taxes, the emissions cap for oil and gas companies, and the role of technology and innovation—are also outlined.
